Fox Sports North received a Medallion Award from the National Association of Secretaries of State this week for its efforts to get Minnesotans to vote.

FSN, between Sept. 7, 2016 and Nov. 8, 2016, aired more than 950 public service announcements aimed at educating Minnesotans about voting in the 2016 election and including topics like how to register to vote and how to request an absentee ballot.

Many of the public service announcements featured stars from the Wild, Vikings, Timberwolves, Lynx and Twins encouraging citizens to “Get in the game” and vote.

“I am proud today to honor Fox Sports North for its strong commitment to educating Minnesotans about the voting process and the integral role it played in helping return Minnesota back to number one in voter turnout,” says Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon. “Not only did we return to number one, but Minnesota voters set numerous records, including the total number to vote in a general election, to cast a ballot early, and to register before Election Day.”

The presentation, to Fox Sports North Senior Vice President and General Manager Mike Dimond, was made during the pregame show before the Minnesota Wild played the New York Islanders.
