Nearly 33,000 tickets have been sold for the season opening football game between North Dakota State and Butler at Target Field Saturday.

Twins Spokesman Matt Hodson says the team hopes to draw around 35,000 fans for the event, which would qualify as a sellout under the ballpark’s football configuration.

There are some “300-level” seats remaining available for $20 with the team willing to open up additional seating should demand warrant.

“Given the recent uptick in demand as the game has gotten closer, I expect we will open up some $18 ad $16, limited-view seats and Ballpark Access (standing room only) tickets later this week,” Hodson said Tuesday evening.

The opener for both Butler and North Dakota State will be the first Division I game played at Target Field. The first ever college game there, on September 23, 2017, drew an all-time Division III attendance record with 37,355 fans.

Gates open at noon Saturday for the 3 p.m. kickoff. The game will be presented by Pioneer, a unit of Wilmington, Del.-based Corteva Agriscience, a developer and supplier of advanced plant genetics that provides seeds to farmers in more than 90 countries.

Cenex, the energy brand of Inver Grove Heights-based CHS that provides high-quality, refined fuels through nearly 1,500 locally-owned convenience store locations in 19 states, will present a pre-game concert by country artist Jordan Davis.
